Kinja'd!!!

Was supposed to be my last of six days on the mountain today. Back bowls are open, we got eight inches of fresh snow on Wednesday, and today was supposed to be in the low 30s. There is snow in the forcast for tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday.

Why is that bad? Because there is a road between us and Denver, and our flight is tomorrow at noon.

Kinja'd!!!

We had to call off our last day of skiing because we're afraid we're going to miss our flight tomorrow morning, due to the shit weather crap highway time. Hotel in Denver tonight is what we're stuck with.

Booooo. Today was supposed to be great.

Ah. I'm headed up to Summit Co. at the end of February to ski with a buddy that lives in Denver now. Hoping for good snow. How has it been for you? He was out at A-Basin yesterday and said it wasn't too bad, but wasn't great either.

Best trip we have had in a while. Not too cold, a fresh dump of snow on Wed. All of the mountain was open, and I'm exhausted. Was looking forward to today, though.

Visibility on Wed was tough, but worth it.

I miss skiing at the other resorts. Since my retired father-in-law drives Copper shuttle buses for fun these days, he buys us all Copper five-day passes.

Can't complain, just miss A-Basin, Loveland, Winter Park, etc..

Looks fantastic. I'm missing Summit Co. this year because I've entered real life and really don't want to live in my parent's basement in Denver haha. I was able to nab one day at JH but it looks like it'll be West-Coast-Best-Coast skiing for me this year (read: heavy, wet snow which makes me tired and cold) But yah, good choice going back early. I-70 can be a bitch with a good amount of snow on it.

I drove down to Denver to pick up some inlaws last week, and just the residual leftovers from the previous day's snow in the valleys were unpredictable.

Sunny and dry roads one minute, wet and slippy the next, then steep and snowy.

Quite the dramatic route that is..

It is. Especially when the semis lose their momentum and block lanes because the idiots thought they could make it in their Prius'. Oh and then Loveland Pass will close due to avalanche danger so then they close down the tunnels on the hour to let the hazardous materials trucks through. It can be a real mess. It's usually best to stop off for dinner then push through the mess.
